GREAT LOCAL FOOD

The title G.R.E.A.T. Local Food Project comes from an acronym which represents the goals of this project — to promote people who grow local food; to promote people who raise local food; to increase the amount who eat local food; to ensure that we have accessible local food; and ultimately, to end up with thriving local food systems in Huron County. 

Project Background

This project is a partnership between Gateway Centre of Excellence In Rural Health and Libro Credit Union, which has generously provided funding through their Local Food Accessibility Pillar aimed at growing prosperity within Southwestern Ontario. The final report has been completed and can be accessed below.

The GREAT Local Food team is a passionate group of health professionals, local food advocates, and community leaders dedicated to enhancing the accessibility and sustainability of local food systems. Combining expertise in nutrition, agriculture, and rural health education, the team provides communities with essential resources and practical tools. Through open dialogue and interactive sessions, they foster a supportive and empowering environment where individuals can prioritize healthy eating, support local producers, and strengthen community connections.
